Free to attend (limited places)

About the event

This summer, join the South West Net Zero Hub and climate charity Ashden for a unique, hands-on day exploring how community energy projects are being delivered on the ground.

Seeing is Believing offers a rare opportunity to step inside successful local energy schemes, meet the people behind them, and learn what it really takes to bring projects to life, from concept to delivery.

With the UK Government’s Local Power Plan committing £1bn to locally led energy generation, this is a critical moment for local authorities, community groups, and partners to collaborate and scale impact.

Why attend:

  • Visit to Totnes Renewable Energy Society (TRESOC): showcasing an innovative hydropower project that cuts 600 tonnes of carbon annually whilst providing the group with an annual income of £37,500.
  • Guided tour of solar farm in Plymouth: Take a guided tour of Plymouth Energy Community’s (PEC) Ernesettle Solar Farm that is generating 4.1 MW of renewable energy – enough to power over 1,000 homes.
  • Meet and share challenges: hear from further expert speakers and spend time with peers tackling similar challenges, allowing for new connections, learnings and opportunities to arise.
